Homburg (No, it's not a typo- it's a town in the Saarland)

Homburg is pleasant little town in the far East of the Saarland. That's about as far from Saarbrücken as you can get while remaining in the Saarland. That means that I could probably walk there if I had a few hours to spare. Saarland is small. Geographically speaking, it's not a whole lot larger than Hamburg. Population-wise, it is hopelessly insignificant when compared to the rest of Germany. Something most people are unaware of is that Saarbrücken is less than 10km from France. In fact, there is a city bus route that I can take into France that leaves from my stop here at the Waldhaus every half hour during prime hours on weekdays.

But I digress. Homburg is a pleasant little town. Although it is moderately spooky. When we went, it was market day, and the streets were full of people. However, it was also really quiet. Everyone talked to each other really soft voices. No one was yelling. This in contrast to markets in SB, where there are guys standing in trucks yelling into microphones about how great their [insert random consumer product here] is really good and how everyone needs them (they generally speak in dialect, so I'm just guessing here).

Our main reason for going to Homburg in the first place was the sandstone caves. Little did we know, they were closed for the year of 2005. So we wandered around a small provincial town and went home. Homburg is nice enough (and boy is it ever quiet), but there's really not a whole lot to see there. Although it was nice to be in a market sans screaming guys in trucks.
